MEXICO
Self-Care Sanctuary: A Yoga Retreat for Every Body
with Jurian Hughes
January 13-20, 2024
SOLD OUT / WAIT LIST
Take refuge in a week devoted to restoring and regenerating body and soul with senior Kripalu faculty and expert retreat leader, Jurian Hughes, on a pilgrimage to the healing Playa Chacala on the Pacific Ocean, a pristine and picturesque bay in the Riviera Nayarit, complete with golden sand, coconut trees and the tropical jungle.
We’ll practice daily yoga, meditation and deep relaxation; dance, chant, and laugh together; and share heart-opening conversations on the wisdom of yoga, all of which will return you home with insight and clarity, rested and revitalized. There will be opportunities for quiet reflection as well as connection.
The word “kripalu” means compassion. Consequently, Kripalu Yoga is a style of yoga accessible to everyone; encouraging you to find ease as well as energy, confidence as well as contentment. Receive the gifts of sea and sun, good company and delicious food. Above all, be nourished by healing self-care practices, fresh ocean air, and by the sound of the surf, which will lull you to sleep each night.
What a wonderful, replenishing, enriching, invigorating, restorative and magical week. Jurian gives heart and soul into all she does with skill, wisdom, joy, thoughtfulness, clarity and insight. I’ve been on other yoga retreats where the teacher goes away after classes and does not integrate in other ways, but Jurian remains present for everyone. I am certain we all left with the gifts of her presence and tender care. – Maude O.
Wake up with the sunrise for a day of yoga and adventure, or sleep in and laze the day away in a beach hammock with the nourishing sun and the sound of the surf as your companions. All are welcome. Jurian’s retreat is appropriate for all levels of yoga experience.
Mar de Jade’s beautiful surroundings and serene atmosphere make for a magnificent travel experience, allowing you to enjoy direct contact with nature. You’ll be situated at the foothills of a tropical jungle, nestled between the mountains and the warm shores of the Pacific Ocean. Wake up each morning to bird sounds and feel your biorhythms readjusting to the swish of gently lapping ocean waves.
Each day, meals are carefully and lovingly prepared from fresh produce provided by a local 17-acre organic farm. Meals are served buffet-style during specific meal hours, including many vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. The kitchen makes chicken, fish, and seafood dishes, but no pork or beef, only sparingly purchasing ingredients that do not grow locally.
Your week will be an opportunity to unplug if you choose. Free wifi is available in the common areas, but not, generally, in guest rooms.

Mar de Jade is a beautiful location and the food was absolutely amazing. The retreat with Jurian was fabulous – she is a gifted, generous and kind teacher. The spa treatments are some of the best I have ever had. And there are many excursions on offer if you want to explore beyond the resort. – Deborah D.
