Embodying Joy: a Deep and Delicious Yoga Retreat
with Jurian Hughes
February 29 – March 7, 2020
The lushness of Costa Rica’s tropical jungle awaits you! Wake up to the sounds of rainforest wildlife and breathtaking views, perched high in the volcanic hills of Alajuela, 4,900 feet above sea level. Enjoy fresh, healthy and delicious meals; daily all-levels yoga classes; special workshops; and restoring guided meditations. Experience a watsu water massage, relax by the pool, or adventure out to experience a cloud forest canopy zip line, waterfall hike or coffee plantation tour. You’ll be guided throughout this deep and delicious week by Jurian Hughes, senior Kripalu faculty for over a decade and an expert retreat leader and movement master, known for her ability to make everyone feel welcome and at home. You’ll enjoy daily yoga and meditation, delightful dives into fluid movement, soul-filling conversation on the wisdom of yoga both on and off the mat, opportunities for silence as well as play, and plenty of time to simply do nothing at all.
Appropriate for all levels of yoga experience (and fitness), Jurian offers something for everyone – yoga both enlivening and restorative, with posture modifications and options to suit your body; meditation; pranayama; daily opportunities to to explore, swim, soak in the hot tub, and experience the joy of like-minded community; as well as quiet time for healing massage, private reflection and peaceful solitude.
Your week includes two deep and delicious all-levels yoga/movement sessions with Jurian per day, plus additional workshops and guided experiences; your choice of accommodation (from simple to luxurious); three mouthwatering meals per day; access to the pool, fitness center and WiFi; plus plenty of free time to unwind or explore. Optional excursions you may choose to add include a cloud forest canopy adventure, a hike to rainforest hot springs, a skywalk on bridges suspended high above the jungle, a whitewater rafting adventure, and more.
Dive into the restoring practices of yoga, meditation and guided intuitive movement, and discover…joy. You do not need to be an experienced practitioner of yoga to attend. Feel free to bring partners and friends who may or may not wish to participate in all sessions, or come on your own. A retreat is a perfect way to take a solo vacation. We’ll even pair you with a roommate if you like. Everyone is welcome!

“Going on retreat with Jurian is truly a healing experience – physically, mentally and emotionally.”
“My retreat with Jurian was everything I had hoped for and more! [She] creates a safe container for movement exploration. Her yoga classes are appropriate for beginners and those with more experience. More than anything, her retreats are fun and playful! Jurian is a rock-solid guide. What a treat.”

North America’s winter is Costa Rica’s summer, and late February-early March is full of verdant flora and fauna.
