PORTUGAL

October 17-24 – 24-31, 2026

RESERVATIONS NOW OPEN!

Just 30 minutes south of Lisbon, our Portugal retreat takes us to the serene countryside of Azeitão.  Set within a private rural estate, we’ll stay at a stunning 1715 baroque manor house that offers a perfect blend of old-world charm and modern luxury.

With exclusive use of the entire estate, we’ll immerse ourselves in the grandeur of Portugal’s noble past, while enjoying spacious, elegant living areas, glorious gardens, and a magnificent solar-heated swimming pool.

At this intimate and private sanctuary, history and nature meet to create an unforgettable experience. Only minutes away from the breathtaking Arrábida Nature Park and the sparkling shores of Costa Azul, this is a perfect base for exploring both the countryside and the nearby coastal gems of Setúbal and Sesimbra.

Our retreat week will include time to relax and enjoy our property, but will also include time at the beautiful Arrábida ocean, a visit to a local winery and Portuguese tile painting workshop, an on-site cooking class, and more. With interest, we can arrange an outing to ride horses on the beach, or visit an 18-hole golf course.

Vacation Details

Our retreat home for the week  is situated on a secluded hilltop surrounded by an estate of over 50 hectares of rural idyll, ancient cork oak forests, olive groves and fields guaranteeing fine views, privacy, tranquillity, nature and clean air.

We’ll be onveniently located just 30 minutes from Lisbon, and central to the wine and gastronomy of the nearby towns of Azeitão, Sesimbra, & Setubal, and the stunning coastline and beaches of the Arrábida natural park.

We will be able to enjoy the extensive gardens laid out on the west side of the house and along with the pool there is the grand staircase with a flower garden, sunbathing terrace with a lawn, an ancient formal garden with an ornamental pond, an aqueduct and flower gardens.

The saltwater pool is solar-heated and there is a large terrace providing plenty of sun and shaded areas with seating and a large lawn. Behind the pool is the Spa, with a sauna, steam room and massage area for our use.

In addition to relaxing and enjoying our spectacular property, our chef prepared meals and our daily yoga gatherings (twice on most days), we also have some group explorations of the local regions and excursions planned.

We will spend time in the local “village” of Azeitão, and visit one of Portugal’s most prestigious wineries (José Maria da Fonesca, since 1834) where we’ll have a tour and tasting. We’ll learn about the art of Portuguese tile painting, and perhaps even paint our own tiles.  We’ll offer at least one on-site cooking class at our retreat home. And, of course, we’ll venture to the beautiful coastal waters and beaches during the week.

We are fortunate to be so very close to the Arrábida National Park and some of the most beautiful coastlines of Portugal.  We are exploring the possibility of a group excursion via kayak or boat, and another optional outing to relax at one of the beaches.  For those interested, we can organize an optional horse riding excursion, and if there are golfers, our hosts can help arrange a golf day.

A day-to-day schedule will be provided on the months leading up to our retreat.
